Hi, I’m Esther Crew, Founder of Inclusion Live®.
I used to work as an HR Director for the UK’s biggest organisations, developing leadership and inclusion learning programmes and people strategies that drove employee performance and business success.
My favourite part of these roles was shaping cultures where our people were happy and their jobs felt fulfilling.
Seeing the challenges leaders face.
During this time, I worked with passionate leaders who cared about their teams. Yet, many of them lacked the inclusive leadership skills or self-assurance to create a team culture where everyone could excel.
Instead of feeling confident about how they could improve performance, managers felt nervous. Instead of successfully leading change, they were faced with setbacks they didn’t know how to overcome. Instead of resolving conflict in their teams, they found themselves caught up in the tension.
Searching for a better way to lead.
As an HR Director, I was searching for an easy, quick-to-complete, scalable leadership and inclusion learning solution that didn’t cost the earth. One that equipped leaders with practical skills and behaviours to meet and overcome real-world challenges. The problem was, nothing quite fitted the bill.
Without the right support, our managers and their teams felt drained in the face of highly charged real-life situations. Leaders often felt embattled by these challenges and this got in the way of their performance.
Everything changed when I left my corporate role.
I was considering a different C-suite role in an exciting company, when I realised I had all the expertise needed to equip leaders and transform cultures.
So, I started my leadership and HR consultancy, focused on the aspects of people management that matter – Performance and Engagement.
After 10 years of growing this successful business, I took stock. We’d directly impacted thousands of people and worked with brilliant executive leaders and their teams in the UK and globally. It was also personally fulfilling.
But I felt like we could still do more – we hadn’t yet met our own potential.
Standing at the top of our garden one sunny summer evening, I started to think about the single issue that had been present in every organisation I’d worked with. Whatever their size, businesses had continually struggled to help leaders lead effectively.
Ten years on from my time as an HR Director and no learning providers were solving this issue. Or providing solutions that considered companies’ competing priorities, time and budget constraints.
It was clear we had the expertise to do more to help. The question was, how?
To truly make a difference for organisations of all shapes and sizes, I knew I had to revolutionise the learning market. So even the smallest teams could access learning solutions usually only available to big organisations.
I had a crystal-clear vision of what was needed. I wanted to help as many workplaces as possible create cultures where people feel valued, safe, and energised to bring their best to work every day. Places where trust and collaboration could thrive, teams could achieve extraordinary results and where leaders knew how to unlock their people’s full potential.
By combining my decades of expertise with high-impact, technology-enabled learning design, I could equip even more leaders and their teams with the skills and confidence to be more successful over the long term.
Creating Inclusion Live®
This was my eureka moment. Since then, I’ve brought this vision to life through our high-impact leadership and inclusion learning solution – Inclusion Live.
